발췌실(拔萃室, The Excerpt Room). (구)연착륙 프로젝트를 계승하는 프로젝트이자 연구실. 중세 시대 수도사나 학자들은 고전이나 교부들의 저작에서 중요하거나 아름 다운 구절을 발췌하고 요약하여 하나의 책으로 엮는 작업을 진행했다. 이는 라틴어로 꽃(flos)과 모으다(legere)의 합성어로 ‘플로릴레기움(Florilegium)’이라는 용어로 불리 웠다. 직역하자면 꽃을 모은 것.
발췌실은 일종의 디자인 플로릴레기움 작업실이다. 이는 디자인과 관련된 자료들을 선별적으로 수집하고 발췌한다. 수집의 중심 키워드로는 물질성(Materiality), 행성성 (Planetarity), 생태(Ecology), 영성(Spirituality), 사변적 진실(Speculative Reality), 이주(Migracy) 등이 있다. 키워드는 동시대성에 맞춰서 지속적으로 확장된다. 이러한 자료들을 바탕으로 진행하는 첫 번째 프로젝트가 연표 만들기 프로젝트다.
연표 만들기 프로젝트는 온라인 연표 플랫폼이다. 디자인과 관련된(혹은 관련이 없는) 다양한 관점의 연표를 동시에 출력하고, 이를 통해서 연표 스스로 이전의 디자인사에 서 드러나지 않는 부분들을 나타내주도록 한다. 대부분의 연표가 연표 작성자의 의도 에 따라 중심 메시지나 서사가 드러난다면 – 이 연표는 가변과 대조 등을 통해 연표 스스로 무언가를 드러낼 수 있도록 의도된다.
Excerpt Room, 拔萃室. Project and lab that succeeded the soft landing project. Medieval monks and scholars extracted and summarized important or beautiful passages from classics or books and compiled them into a single book. It was a combination of "flowers" and "legre" in Latin and was called "Florilegium." To put it literally, it was a collection of flowers.
The extract room is a kind of design florillegium atelier. It selectively collects and extracts design-related materials. The central keywords of collection include materiality, planetaryity, ecology, spirituality, speculative reality, and migration. Keywords continue to expand according to contemporaneity. The first project to be carried out based on these materials is the chronology project.
The timeline making project is an online timeline platform. It simultaneously outputs a chronology of various perspectives related to (or not related to) design, through which the chronology itself represents parts not revealed in the previous design history. If most chronology reveals a central message or narrative according to the intention of the chronology writer - this chronology is intended to reveal something by itself through variations and contrasts.
